Toledo Sister Cities International’s Tanga Sister City Committee has been awarded a grant from the City of Toledo’s 2022 Youth Engagement, Development and Mentoring Program.
The Toledo-Tanga Sister City virtual exchange project will open avenues for students in Toledo and
Tanga (Tanzania) to increase their technological skills and share cultural experiences.
Virtual classes offered by the Drone Academy in Tanzania, will provide opportunities to learn, engineer-ing and entrepreneurship.
Drone technology will be introduced in cooperative learning environment that will foster creativity and ingenuity.
This project affords Toledo and Tanga students an opportunity to share learning styles, discuss
technological endeavors and promote emotional well being.
Toledo-Tanga Committee is steered by a group of citizens interested in promoting and cultivating inter-national relations with the city of Tanga, Tanzania. Tanga is located in East Africa. Like Toledo, Tanga is a seaport and the population of the two cities is al-so about the same. In 2001 the sister cities agreement was signed by Tanga Mayor Salim Kassim Kisauji and then Toledo Mayor Carleton Finkeiner. (TSCI)
